Metal buildings are frame or frameless quick-mounting (or pre-engineered) buildings designed in a way that allows to conduct building and construction work in short time periods regardless the climatic conditions. Spheres of use of such buildings are different: industrial and production units, warehouse complexes, office buildings, sports facilities, parking garages for all means of transport, hangars, etc.

There are the following basic technologies of quick-mounting construction:
1. Pre-engineered buildings based on metalwork (MW).
2. Pre-engineered buildings based on light gauge steel framing (LGSF).
3. Block-modules and modular buildings on their basis.

In the framework of this research the market of the first two groups of buildings are analyzed.

Technology of the pre-engineered buildings based on metalwork is widely spread in non-residential housing construction in such segments as:
- industrial and production units
- warehouse complexes
- office buildings
- sports facilities
- parking garages for all means of transport, hangars, etc.

The most frequent structural concept in constructing metal buildings is the use of built-up beams of uniform and variable in supporting iron, and also this-sheet profiled metal (corrugated beams, cold-bent galvanized sections, etc) in the system of balks and fences. Sandwich panels and corrugated sheets are used as panelling.

The market of metal buildings started its development in Russia in the beginning of 60-ies and now is an independent industrial branch with a large structure of project institutes and a developed industrial facility. Specialists characterize this market segment as challenging and dynamic.

Following the results of 2012, volume gain of metal buildings construction demonstrated positive dynamics and reached 3%, and in 2013 the market grew for 12% towards the level of the previous year.

Research geography: Russia

Research chronology:
- retrospective — 2008–2013;
- forecast — 2014–2018

Research target audience:
- manufacturers of pre-engineered buildings based on metalwork;
- intermediary companies (trade organizations, building companies);
- potential consumers;
- investors.

The report consists of three parts.

The 1st part contains the general information about metal buildings: basic concepts and terminology, technological peculiarities, pros and cons compared to traditional constructions, application features.

The 2nd part contains the analysis of the environment of development of the Russian market of metal buildings. Special emphasis is placed on the tendencies of development of the contemporary construction market, state of the basic consumer-branches of metal buildings, development of the related branches (markets of construction metal structures and sandwich panels), dynamics of prices for steel and energy sources.

The 3rd part contains the detailed description of the Russian metal buildings market: information about the history and current status, quantitative estimations and main trends, estimation of the further development of the market in the near-term outlook. There is the data about the size and dynamics of import of metal buildings sets and the analysis of demand for metal buildings in this chapter.

The conclusion contains resume.
