Hot-dip galvanizing is a popular and widely used method of protecting steel constructions from corrosion. The process of applying a zinc layer on steel is performed by means of immersing a steel element into liquid zinc (the bath temperature is 445–460° С). The zinc coating serves as a protective barrier, which minimizes the environmental stress and possesses high mechanical stability. Zinc also provides electrochemical protection, thanks to voltaic element created when it contacts steel.
